In a statement from management, Air Peace responded to reports alleging that the windscreen of its aircraft shattered during a flight from Akure to Abuja, supposedly causing panic among passengers.
The airline clarified, “We want to make it clear that there was no ‘panic event’ on the flight. It was a smooth journey that landed safely without any issues.”
They explained that a crack was found on the outer layer of the First Officer’s side windscreen, noticed by the cockpit crew. Importantly, the safety of the flight and passengers was never compromised. The flight operated normally and landed safely in Abuja, where the pilots reported the cracked windscreen to engineers, who promptly began the replacement process.
Air Peace emphasized the importance of combating misinformation, stating, “It is unacceptable for falsehoods to tarnish our reputation when there was no incident causing panic among passengers. Such negative reports should be discouraged.”
The airline reassured the public of its commitment to passenger safety, noting that aircraft windshields are designed with multiple layers for added protection. “Air Peace will always prioritize the highest safety standards in our operations.”
